Our Story

Central Baptist Church is a time-honored name in the Houston community.

We are a group of believers that are striving together to be more like Christ! We are a team and family that desires to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and encouraging for anyone and everyone who walks into our church.

Central Baptist Church exists to bring Glory to our Lord Jesus Christ. We offer a range of services and study opportunities for spiritual growth. Founded with a mission to guide individuals towards a life of faith, Central Baptist Church continues to be a cornerstone of the community in Houston, MO.

At Central Baptist Church, our message is Jesus. The overarching message of the Bible, from the first book to the last book, reveals one big story – the story of God so loving the world that He brought salvation through the person of Jesus. All of our ministries, events, and gatherings maintain Jesus as the focal point.
When God created the world, He designed it to work perfectly – where everything and everyone fit together in harmony. God created each of us to be in a relationship with Him.

However, something tragic happened.

Humanity chose to rebel against God and His perfect plan. When we chose to rebel, sin entered the world, and everything changed. Sin caused a separation between God and the people He created. Since that took place, every person has come into the world spiritually dead and separated from a relationship with God.

Despite our mistakes, brokenness, and choice to follow our ways, God still loves us. God showed us the depth of His love by sending Jesus to the world to pay the penalty of sin for the world. Jesus stepped into time, God in human flesh, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross to pay the penalty for humanity’s sin. After three days, Jesus was raised to life by the power of God.

The Bible tells us that through Jesus, we can be forgiven of our sin, reconciled into a right relationship with God, and experience eternal life.

We will continue to serve our Lord by sending the gospel around the world and across the street until everyone has heard of our great savior Jesus Christ!

Our Values

We believe that the Bible is the written word of God! We are built upon it and will never move from it. We believe that the blood of our Lord Jesus is the only way to be saved. Nothing we do can ever earn salvation and nothing we do can ever make us lose it. We believe that Baptism is a picture of what Christ did for us and is not part of salvation; but a public show of the decision you made to accept Christ as your savior. We believe that the Body of Christ is a local independent body not led by a distant board but by a local pastor who understands the needs of the flock in that location. Our by laws can be received upon request.
